First, a big thank you to everyone who supported the December 2007 training.
Thanks to your donations, 52 healthcare workers were trained in acupuncture and thousands of patients will now be able to access much needed treatment.
This December 2007, as part of a group of five Acupuncturists from North America, I was privileged to spend three weeks in Uganda teaching local healthcare workers acupuncture. The response from all parties was incredibly positive.
Although our training was geared mainly to treating adult patients with AIDS, TB and Malaria, we had a very wide variety of people coming to the clinics, from grandparents to newborn babies.
Results were rapid in most cases. Many patients had no access to Western medicine or could not afford medication and were ecstatic to finally have someone look after their many ailments. The patients left happy and the trainees were so thankful to have another tool to treat their patients with.
